[Update]Simple Side Note 1.0.2 Released – Bigger Text, Faster Notes

 # Simple Side Note 1.0.2 Released – Bigger Text, Faster Notes

Simple Side Note started as a personal tool.

While reading articles, using AI search, or studying English online, I often wanted to write quick notes without opening another application. Switching between browser tabs and note apps interrupted my workflow.

That's why I built Simple Side Note — a lightweight memo pad that lives directly inside the Chrome sidebar.

Today I'm happy to release version 1.0.2 with several usability improvements focused on one goal:

**Make note-taking faster and easier.**

## Bigger Text for Better Readability

One of the most common issues I experienced was that note text felt too small during long reading sessions.

In version 1.0.2, the default editor font size has been increased from 14px to 18px.

This makes notes easier to read while working with:

* AI search results

* Online documentation

* YouTube transcripts

* English learning materials

* Technical articles

## One-Click Font Size Controls

Instead of using a traditional formatting toolbar, Simple Side Note now includes dedicated font size buttons.

Available sizes:

* Large (20px)

* Larger (26px)

* Huge (34px)

You can quickly enlarge important information without opening menus or navigating dropdown lists.

Clicking an active size button returns the text to the default size.

## Quick Text Colors

To make highlighting important content easier, three color buttons have been added:

* Black

* Red

* Blue

This allows users to quickly mark:

* Important tasks

* Warnings

* Study notes

* Key ideas

Clicking the selected color again removes the formatting.

## Automatic Save When Starting a New Memo

Previously, users could accidentally lose unsaved edits when creating a new memo.

Version 1.0.2 fixes this problem.

Now when you click the **New** button:

1. The current memo is automatically saved.

2. A new blank memo is created.

3. No confirmation dialogs appear.

This creates a smoother workflow and prevents accidental data loss.

## Simpler Interface

The full rich-text toolbar has been removed.

Most users only needed:

* Larger text

* Basic colors

* Quick note entry

By removing unnecessary controls, the editor becomes cleaner and easier to use.

The result is a distraction-free writing experience directly inside the browser sidebar.

## Why I Built This Extension

I originally created Simple Side Note for my own daily workflow.

I frequently use AI-powered search tools and English-learning websites. While reading, I wanted a place to save thoughts instantly without opening separate note applications.

Simple Side Note stays available inside the browser sidebar, making note-taking feel natural and immediate.

## What's Next?

Future updates may include:

* Improved export options

* Better memo organization

* Search capabilities

* Additional productivity features

As always, I plan to keep the extension simple, lightweight, and focused on real-world usefulness.

## Try Simple Side Note

If you're looking for a fast and private note-taking tool that stays inside your browser, give Simple Side Note a try.

Thank you for using Simple Side Note and supporting independent software development.
